Parent Cooking Tool

The best parent cooking tool for the on the go family is the slow cooker. The process is simple – you just add the ingredients, follow the directions in the recipe and set the proper setting for cooking. You can even prepackage the ingredients and freeze them and just add them to the slow cooker right out of the freezer.  Remember to plug in the slow cooker!

The models available now are  different from the ones I used with my kids. Jason and Carly – my son and daughter in law – use their parent cooking tool  a lot! They package and freeze  meals ahead of time and then take them out in the morning when they are going to use them and it is done by supper time…The food is delicious and well worth the wait!

The slow cookers they use all of the time are the Crock Pot brand and Hamilton Beach brand. The 2 we mainly use are a 7 quart model from Hamilton Beach and an 8 quart model from Crock Pot. Many other sizes are available. The reason we use the larger ones is for the leftovers.  They warm up easily and taste great the next day!  .

7 Quart Hamilton Beach Slow Cooker

This is an oval programmable slow cooker.

  • Three settings warm, low and high
  • Time settings for 2, 4, 6, 8, or 10 hours
  • After your time setting is up setting automatically changes to warm
  • Removable stoneware and lid are dishwasher safe

8 Quart Crock Pot Slow Cooker

This is an oval manual slow cooker.

  • Three setting warm, low and high
  • Removable stoneware and lid are dishwasher safe

As you can tell the programmable slow cooker includes more features and is more user friendly for longer cooking.  The manual one will work just fine but you will not have as much control.

We have the programmable one at home and it works great!  My grand daughter is only 6 but she has dance competitions and piano lessons. The programmable is perfect for this as we are never sure what time we will be home!  It is a great time saver and your meals are delicious.  You can now cook anything in a slow cooker!

I have the manual one at my cabin.  It works great there!  We cook chili and baked beans mainly but also have made egg casseroles, soup, stew, etc.  This works well as someone is close by when the slow cooker needs to be turned to warm.

The slow cooker will make great tasting and nutritious meals.  The food is ready when you get home so you are not eating fast food or scrambling around trying to find something to cook!  I highly recommend these slow cookers!
